Week 9 Preview

by Big Al

Most of the trash has been taken out by now, so we are on to figure out the rest of the playoff picture. And figure out the conference pecking orders as well.

There are actually a lot of good games this weekend, but most of them are actually between unranked teams. But those aren't much in the splashy realm, so I'm afraid I won't be able to talk much about them. It's a shame, but still a fact.

Florida vs. Georgia

The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party kicks off again this week! It's nice to see that this game is back to being a major event. It was a dud for a while, unfortunately, and I missed it.

Florida hit bottom in their loss to Kentucky, but they bounced off of it rather nicely and they have been putting together a nice little run, including a win over LSU. Georgia, meanwhile, took it on the chin against LSU: they had opportunities, but never could turn them into touchdowns.

I think Georgia is the better team. But I'm not seeing a winner in them. Florida it is.

Iowa at Penn State

Iowa has a habit of driving Penn State nuts. I don't know how or why, but Iowa always give them fits. Penn State lost its footing in the fourth quarter of the Ohio State game and can't seem to figure out a foothold. Iowa, meanwhile, continues its usual, workmanlike job of just doing its thing. Iowa it is.

Washington State at Stanford

After a big, emotional, field-storming win over Oregon, Washington State's reward is a game against Stanford. It's hard to get back up for a game like this. But I haven't been all that excited about Stanford this year either. I'm going with Washington State here.

Clemson at Florida State

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha...aaaaahhhhhhh... yeah.

Texas A&M at Mississippi State

Texas A&M is starting to figure it out. Which will be enough against Mississippi State.

Playoff Recap and Championship Preview

The boring year continues.

Bowl Preview 2

The bowl picks keep rolling in! Here are the rest of them.

Bowl Preview 1

Bowl games! You know, those games where teams get to go play a sport for fun. Doesn't really fit in with the modern sensibilities, I know. Anyway, here's the first batch of games.

Week 14 Recap

A fundamentally boring week of conference championships. Explain that to me.

Week 14 Preview

Championship weekend. I'm still not a fan: too many opportunities for teams to drop games that can mess up their seasons.

Week 13 Recap

Rivarly week didn't provide too many surprises, but there were enough that's the week is worth talking about.

Week 13 Preview

It's rivalry week! But it's an amazingly uninteresting rivalry week. I seriously can't believe how uninteresting this weekend is. It's rivalry week, and the games aren't interesting. What the heck?
