I have to admit, this year has been a heck of a lot more interesting than last year. It's the sort of thing you normally expect from college football, only moreso. I guess the year is trying to make up for just how boring last year was. And man alive, last year was a snoozer.

Anyway, let's talk football!

Georgia 23 - Notre Dame

I was looking forward to watching this game, but I laid down on the couch on Saturday and I think I was asleep even before my head hit the pillow. Darn shame, looks like Notre Dame made a good go of it. But they aren't quite playoff material unless everyone else shows they aren't either.

USC 30 - Utah 23

USC looks like they are getting back to winning. There are some hiccups along the way, but they are still USC. They will get there soon enough. But I expect one or two more losses before the Trojan ships trims her sails fully.

Auburn 28 - Texas A&M 20

I was thinking maybe an upset here, but Texas A&M just doesn't have top-level skills. I'd say more about that, but I'll leave it be for now.

Wisconsin 35 - Michigan 14

Seriously, what the ____ is going on at Michigan? This is pathetic... and I'm an Ohio State fan. I really don't get it, because Jim Harbaugh has won everywhere he's been... except Michigan. I just don't get it.

On the other side, Wisconsin may just be that good. I'm not ready to anoint them B1G West champions yet, but they are certainly shaping up that way.

Texas 36 - Oklahoma State 30

OSU gave it a run. Texas is getting it figured out, though. Probably won't be this year, but maybe soon.

Pittsburgh 35 - UCF 34

Pitt really tried to lose this game. But UCF had spent the first 30 minutes losing it, and Pitt didn't have enough time.

But I do need to note that the Pittsburgh kicker missed two very makeable field goals that allowed UCF to take the lead late. But he kicked the winning point. I do appreciate redemption.

UCLA 67 - Washington State 63

I saw this game on the schedule and thought, "I don't even want to see how this turns out." Turns out I did and I should have, but I was dead asleep for it. Though the first three quarters would have put me out even if I had been able to stay awake.

Anyway, Washington State slept on UCLA and that allowed the ol' Chip Kelly offense to go nuts and score tons of points is a very short period of time. Which is exactly the sort of thing a Chip Kelly offense is designed to do. I'm not saying the Bruins are back (or even on their way back), but they held together and made some strides in this game. Good for them.

Colorado 34 - Arizona State 31

Colorado ain't as bad as you might think. Arizona State ain't as good as people thought. This game wasn't so much a comparison of relative strengths as it was reverting to the mean.
