Week 7 Recap

by Big Al

Well, that certainly changed things, didn't it?

Miami 17 - Virginia 9

"...the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong..."

Nor the football game to the better team. Because Virginia was clearly better than Miami. But they just kept screwing up at just the wrong time. Good win by Miami, though: they took advantage of the Cavaliers' mistakes and turned them into victory.

Clemson 45 - Florida State 14

My bad. Though it seems Clemson is going to drop in the rankings whether they win or lose.

South Carolina 20 - Georgia 17

Turns out I was only off by one position in the rankings for the upset. Crazy game, but South Carolina finally figured out a way to leave Georgia on the field long enough to lose. You play the cards you're dealt.

LSU 42 - Florida 28

Out of all the ways I thought Florida would lose, I wouldn't have figured it would be by allowing 42 points to LSU. Defense has been the one thing Florida did well. LSU is pretty darn impressive. Now, on to the big test.

Oklahoma 34 - Texas 27

Jalen Hurts just keeps getting it done. Not the best passing day, but his feet made up the difference. Oklahoma just keeps rolling along. And I'm not sure who is going to stand in their way. Never count on anything in this game, but the way to the playoffs looks pretty clear right now. As long as Oklahoma doesn't think that, they should be fine. Well, depending on whether Texas can get a second try and get a win.

Penn State 17 - Iowa 12

Don't overlook Penn State. They are still churning out wins. And they get Michigan next week.

Temple 30 - Memphis 28

As I'm sure a lot of other people noticed, John Goodman was the guest picker on GameDay. And everyone else picked Memphis. But John Goodman picked Temple. I didn't hear his explanation, but if I was John Goodman, I'd be messaging the guys from GameDay every weekend for the rest of the season about that one.

Minnesota 34 - Nebraska 7

Um, what the %$#@ was that? Seriously, I have no idea what's going on with Nebraska. Maybe Minnesota is better than we thought. But maybe Nebraska is worse off than we thought, too.
