Week 12 Preview

by Big Al

In what can only be described as the most bizarre situation I've come across, the biggest game of the weekend features a top-10 matchup involving Indiana.

Indiana at Ohio State

Look, um, nothing against Indiana, which is a very fine school, and has had tremendous athletic success, particularly in their basketball program. But their football program has been... well... somewhat lacking. Since about, oh, its formation. So when they are storming into Columbus in sole possession of first place in the Big Ten East (Ohio State played one less game), with a top-notch offense and an aggressive, disrupting defense, I have to say that I have no idea where this came from.

Anyway, it's 2020, so I'm not putting anything past anybody. Especially when Ohio State suddenly has its biggest game of the year on a weekend that it figured was both a bye week and a win. So I'm going with Indiana to pull off the most shocking win of the year, even if they are ranked #9.

Cincinnati at UCF

This should have been the premier game of the year in the American. But now it's a game between a top-tier team throttling everyone in their way, and a UCF team that is very good, but can't quite find the magic. UCF is kind of like a person in a good relationship that is missing the spark it used to have. They can find some of it against Cincinnati. They might. But it's not the way to bet. Cincinnati enjoys the warm weather and gets the win.

Wisconsin at Northwestern

Wisconsin is likely the better team. But Northwestern is plucky and they are at home. I like Northwestern to create even more of a mess in the Big Ten with a win.

Oklahoma State at Oklahoma

Oklahoma started off bad. But they look like they might have turned a corner. I'll take the Sooners to keep winning this week.

Georgia Southern at Army

This is one of the best game of the weekend: two 6-2 teams battling for pride in an intersectional battle between an independent and a Sun Belt team. With yet another weekend of postponements and cancellations, this is a game to watch. Expect to watch Army get the win.
