Week 2 Preview
by Big Al
Not as huge as last year, but let's not get greedy.
Colorado at Georgia Tech
I know nothing about either team this year. But I do know Colorado starts out hot and Georgia Tech is usually good. I'll go with Colorado to start hot again.
North Texas at Indiana
Indiana begins its defense of its national title. I don't know what those words mean. Anyway, Indiana will defend its national title in week 1 in a game that, three years ago, would have been a game legitimately worth picking.
Boise State at Oregon
Boise State is not up to its old level, so I'm not making any shocking picks here. But I do want to see if Oregon is able to start the year with a resounding win over a team that should at least be pretty decent.
Clemson at LSU
LSU is starting off its Lane Kiffin era. I'm going out on a limb and taking Clemson to bring a big bag of buyer's remorse to Baton Rouge.
Florida Atlantic at Florida
Florida was bad last year. They weren't this bad. Florida at least starts off with a win.
UCLA at Cal
Big Ten vs. ACC. Defending champion Indiana actually make more sense than that. Anyway, Cal wins.
Washington State at Washington
The Apple Cup! ...on the first weekend of the year instead of the last. Realignment does deliver some disappointment. Anyway, Washington wins.
Wisconsin at Notre Dame
Pretty much a slam dunk Notre Dame pick here. Except that Wisconsin was plagued by quarterback injuries last year and Notre Dame, under Marcus Freeman, has a habit of starting the year poorly. Darn right I'm picking Wisconsin in the upset of the year before the next upset of the year!
Louisville at Ole Miss
I really want to see this game. Louisville is ranked, but still uncertain at #24. Ole Miss is ranked high, but I don't know what to think of them after getting left at the altar by their head coach and most of the staff before the effing playoffs. I'll go with Ole Miss, but I could see how either team could win this game 49-3.
SMU at Florida State
25-years ago me could not imagine how this game would be close. Now it's a legitimate pick. I'm taking SMU, because I just wasn't impressed with Florida State in week 1.
